TherArome Facial Moisturizer Oil

TherArome® Botanical Facial Moisturizer in Organic Jojoba Oil

These precious facial moisturizers are a simple and elegant way to treat your skin to nature’s botanical delights. They nourish and restore balance, promote a healthy glow, help to naturally retain your skin’s hydration and restore your skin’s natural elasticity.  The nature of Jojoba is to bring balance to dry, oily and combination skin.  It is suitable for all skin types and is rich in Vitamin E content, which is a natural antioxidant that may help prevent the onset of wrinkles.

These blends have been in spa’s for over 23 years under the label Tara Spa Therapy. I am the creator and manufacturer. Available in bulk retail.

We offer two exquisite blends:

  • Neroli (Citrus aurantium amara) is steam distilled from the orange blossoms of the bitter orange tree (Orange bigarade).  Neroli essential oil increases circulation and stimulates new cell growth.  It has been found useful in treating skin conditions linked to emotional stress.  It regulates oiliness and minimizes enlarged pores.  With regular use, it can reduce the appearance of fragile or broken capillaries.  We use Neroli sourced from Tunisia.
  • Rose Otto (Rosa damascena) The term otto refers to “oil” and comes from the Ottoman Empire, well known for the steam distillation of damask rose petals.  The production of this oil is very labor intensive and the flowers are carefully picked at the particular time of day when the fragrance of the flower is at its peak.  Rose damascena is one of the most complex essential oils.  It has uplifting and balancing properties.  It is a good emollient and excellent for dry, sensitive and mature skin.  We use Rose Otto sourced from Bulgaria and Turkey.

Selecting and using your blend

When choosing an essential oil for your skin type, bear in mind that skin conditions may fluctuate, and fragile or broken capillaries can appear in all skin types.  In general, Rose is good for mature, sensitive and dry skin.  Neroli benefits oily/combination and distressed skin such as acne-prone or porous types.  You may wish to alternate between both blends to enhance your skin care, choosing the blend that supports your skin’s current state and appeals to your olfactory sense and intuition. These facial moisturizers are appropriate skincare for men and women.

You will find that using facial oils made with Jojoba will help to balance and keep your skin supple.  It is important to stay hydrated and drink enough water to keep your skin moist.  Apply 2 to 4 drops twice daily to clean skin. You may use sun block and/or foundation over the TherArome moisturizer.

Qualities and benefits of Jojoba

Jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) is a perennial shrub grown primarily in desert regions of southwestern United States and Mexico.  This is 100% USDA Natural Organic Program (NOP) certified organic, made from expeller pressed Jojoba seeds.  Jojoba is a liquid wax ester similar to the natural restorative esters that our sebaceous glands produce for our skin.  This means that it closely resembles the skin’s natural sebum, so it is easily absorbed and is hypoallergenic.  The body’s natural sebum also contains wax esters, which act as a natural moisturizer and environmental barrier for the skin.  Unlike triglyceride oils such as olive, sunflower, or other seed, fruit and nut oils, Jojoba does not break down and go rancid.  It is very stable and has the ability to withstand both high pressure and temperature.

Pure Jojoba also naturally contains alpha, delta, and gamma tocopherols, all natural forms of the anti-oxidant Vitamin E and B complex vitamins.  Jojoba has antimicrobial properties, which means it discourages the growth of some bacterial and fungal microbes that attack the skin. There are no synthetics, fillers or additives.  Jojoba is soothing, conditioning and revitalizing for the skin.  It leaves a non-greasy feeling, and the tocopherols in Jojoba act as preservatives.  Jojoba oil can prevent the skin from becoming too oily.  Because the structure of Jojoba oil so closely resembles natural sebum, it can trick the skin into producing less natural sebum.  Jojoba oil can help treat acne, both by reducing sebum production and by protecting the skin from harmful bacteria.

Because there are only two ingredients in the facial oil, the essential oil and the organic Jojoba oil, there is no need to add emulsifiers.  These are binding agents used to create a homogeneous blend when manufacturing a cream or lotion made with oil and water.  We do not add vitamins or supplements because many vendors have no idea what vehicle they are in; vitamins do not come in liquid form and in order to create that liquid form they are compounded into various unlisted ingredients.

A moisturizer works by regulating the rate at which moisture evaporates from the skin.  Using water-based creams or lotions will not moisturize your skin in the long run because emulsifiers or binding agents give an initial impression of adding moisture to your skin; however, the binding agents end up emulsifying the skin’s inherent natural barrier of moisture-protective fats and absorbing those natural oils.  The result is that the balance of moisture retention is disrupted and this can lead to dry skin conditions.
